Obedience, Stability, Conversion

Obedience, Stability, Conversion The control and resistance falls away  bravery enters Dark night stars and earth sounds Alone but for a flickering flame flowing deep inside the cave of my heart Blinding beauty of all the unique colors and textures of different faces from all over the world Dark night stars and earth sounds Home, water gently trickling through time Blinding beauty of all the unique colors and textures of different faces from all over the world The spark of the Divine pulses deep underground in the roots Home, water gently trickling through time Alone but for a flickering flame flowing deep inside the cave of my heart The spark of the Divine pulses deep underground in the roots The control and resistance falls away  bravery enters

The Bird at the Window

The Bird at the Window Hello, Hello, you giants, What are you, sitting in this over-sized cage?  Do you feel the freedom of the sky in this enclosure? Does the spring wind touch your wings in this house? Do you feel the bright sun warming your heart? Hello, Hello, odd creatures, What is this unknown glass that separates us? What are you trying to keep in? Or better yet, what are you trying to keep out?  Why do you stay in this shelter separated from Mother Earth? Are you able to feel the changes of the seasons? What are you always looking at? Hello,  Hello, living entity, Are you mindful of the outer world? Do you hear the blades of grass move? Or the hummingbird's wings vibrate? Do you smell the trees in that brick box of yours? Are you happy in this home? Do you long to soar? Do you desire the freedom of the air? Hello, Hello, mere humans, I'm here, watching at your window. Come out. Come out and fly with me...

Questions

What makes a good question? For me, a good question can stop me in my tracks and reach deep in my soul. A good question can change my whole perspective and reveal hidden awareness. A good question makes me pause and say "hmmm" as I search for a response. Part of a good question is the way the question is asked, with love, non judgement, gentleness, and presence. A good question can bond people for life, turn acquaintances into best friends, and change the energy of a room. A good question can be life-changing. Here is a list of good questions that have stayed with me, inviting me to come back and answer them again and again. How are you seeing/experiencing God in your life? What is the invitation you are hearing? How can I nurture this situation/person in my life? What am I afraid of? What drives me to keep wanting to know?  What have I learned about myself today? What do I need for me to reconnect to myself? How do I stop myself? (in reference to a goal I want to...

Hatty

Image
Hatty:    slang term in hockey when a player scores three goals in a game, resulting in fans throwing their hats onto the ice ( also known as a hat-trick). Meet our Hatty.  A goldendoodle fur ball that is full of energy and love. Hatty came in my life through a surprise. I have always wanted to come home and be shocked to see a beautiful new puppy bouncing around the house. It's a dream I've had since childhood. This dream was fulfilled in October when my husband drove to Denton while I was working and bought a goldendoodle puppy nicknamed "Sassy". I felt so much joy and happiness as I hugged our new puppy. Her fur was a fluffy softness and she was so cute with her awkward movements as she was learning her new body. Our time and routine quickly changed when Hatty entered our life.  Our time now centered around this new puppy and her daily discoveries. We watched as Hatty explored the living room. We cheered Hatty on as she went outside and came bac...

My Spiritual Autobiography

Image
The candle is lit, surrounding the room with the warm smell of white pumpkin. The chair squeaks as I settle at the table, breathing deeply, opening my heart to the Divine. I surrender to this familiar rhythm, anticipation building at the new awareness I am about to receive. I am facing windows that welcome the glow of sunshine in the space, and my wind chime offers comforting sounds as the breeze blows. This is how I begin my meditations and prayer. This process over the past couple of months has bestowed a gift in the idea of  re-member-ing . As stated in  Inner Compass  by Margaret Silf, the art of  re-member-ing  is bringing together that which has been fragmented or broken. Through the reflection exercises ,  I have held my past with more grace and love, the present with more awareness, and the future with anticipation and hope, recognizing the beauty of God throughout.             ...

The Beginning

The purpose of this blog is to easily document my journey. I'll begin by stating my rule of life written in a french pantoum poem. Rule of Life Grounded fully in stillness and being Trusting the dark unfolding cave of mystery  Looking and seeking for the beautiful flickering light of hope Engaging in creativity through words, art, and perspective Trusting the dark unfolding cave of mystery Standing firm in balance and love, freely giving myself over Engaging in creativity through words, art, and perspective Heart and hands open to receive growth and awareness Standing firm in balance and love, freely giving myself over Looking and seeking for the beautiful flickering light of hope Heart and hands open to receive growth and awareness Grounded fully in stillness and being I realized it might be beneficial to put more concrete words around my Rule of Life. 1. 15 minutes of meditation each day 2. Regular study of theology  3. Jo...
