Questions

What makes a good question? For me, a good question can stop me in my tracks and reach deep in my soul. A good question can change my whole perspective and reveal hidden awareness. A good question makes me pause and say "hmmm" as I search for a response. Part of a good question is the way the question is asked, with love, non judgement, gentleness, and presence. A good question can bond people for life, turn acquaintances into best friends, and change the energy of a room. A good question can be life-changing.

Here is a list of good questions that have stayed with me, inviting me to come back and answer them again and again.

  • How are you seeing/experiencing God in your life?
  • What is the invitation you are hearing?
  • How can I nurture this situation/person in my life?
  • What am I afraid of?
  • What drives me to keep wanting to know?
  • What have I learned about myself today?
  • What do I need for me to reconnect to myself?
  • How do I stop myself? (in reference to a goal I want to achieve)
  • How do I scare myself?
  • What am I willing to practice?
  • What am I willing to work on today?
  • What is it you really want me to understand?
  • What would it mean if...
  • How are the blind spots of myself playing out in my life?
  • Can I discern when I feel angry versus fear?
  • Can I be patient with that question?
  • In what ways do I allow God to surprise me?
  • What would God say or think?
  • Am I aware enough to recognize the different forms of Jesus?
  • Who do I experience hope with?
  • What energy do I get when I think about...?
This list will continue to grow, like the answer of a good question. The answer to a good question grows and expands as the question invites deeper awareness and examination of heart and soul.

So, what are some good questions that have stayed with you?
